Celia Monroe cannot get a break. A great newspaper reporter, who has just been reassigned to advice columnist, she spends her lunch hours devouring her two loves: cheeseburgers and romance novels. Celia has her eyes set on Matthew Carlson, who not only is her boss, but also happens to be the reason she is stuck solving the problems of the paper’s readers. Celia is so obsessed with work she seems to miss out on her life.
Even when her co-worker, Amy, takes Celia out for the evening to the club in town, Celia is hard at work answering the letters of her readers. Celia finds help from a co-worker, Josh, who is new at the paper, in answering a letter about love - something Celia swears she doesn’t know anything about.
Circumstances cause Celia to believe that Matthew, who is not “Crushing” (the author of the advice letter), is following the column’s advice because he is in love with her. In a comic twist of events, Celia soon discovers that the person on the other end of the letters may be just what she needed.
