The Prophecy

 ~Summary~

Many years ago, a prophecy foretold the birth of one from an unlikely love in the midst of a great feud.  This child would hold great powers that would change the world forever.  Apollo, goddess of the sun, and Nyx, goddess of the night, joined forces to create a curse that will keep this prophecy from being fulfilled.

Gavin is being forced to choose a mate. As a werewolf, he must choose a mate before his 25th year or he will be killed off as a weak link in his pack.  As the next in line as Alpha Male he could have any one of the daughters from neighboring packs, but none of them spark his interest. Then, one night while hiding in the woods, he spots the one he knows he will have as his mate.

Zade, a daughter of the night (more commonly known to humans as a vampire), has found the love of her life.  There’s just one problem – he’s a werewolf.  It’s bad enough that the two races are feuding, but the fact that she is a princess in her clan makes it all the worse.  She should know better than to get involved with one of his kind. Although she knows in her mind that she’s breaking the rules, her heart doesn’t stop her from loving the man who should be her enemy.

Then with one forbidden kiss the two of them are cursed to live their lives apart.  Zade is forced to walk at day and turn to stone by night. Gavin must remain in his wolf form in the day and change back to his human form at night.  By not allowing them to be with each other or their families ever again, Apollo and Nyx are sure they have succeeded in stopping the prophecy. They use the fate of Zade and Gavin as an example to any others who might try to unite the two races.

When the battle rages between the two races, a twist of fate interferes with the curse.  Will Zade and Gavin have enough time to save their families and themselves?

 ~Excerpt (Unedited)~

Prologue

From a love that emerges out of hate

Will come the One who takes no sides

Great power is bestowed upon this child

Born to a day-walker and a daughter of the night

In order to keep the perfect balance

Then their love cannot survive.

Nyx and Apollo looked at each other and knew what must be done.  Their children were never meant to co-exist together. To even attempt to combine their races would be a detriment to everyone.

“Surely this can’t be true,” Apollo said. “My children would never mix with the likes of yours.”

“Nor would mind give yours a chance to live if they saw them,” Nyx retorted.

“Why should we even believe this prophecy?  We are hardly able to agree on anything ourselves – how could our children fall in love? They are complete opposites – enemies from the start.”  Apollo paced the floor.

“What happens if we disregard this prophecy and it does happen?  What then? The One it mentions is a half-breed…something that should never happen.  Can you imagine the power it will have?” Nyx asked.

“It will upset the balance, taking no side, because it does not belong to either one or the other,” Apollo stated, pondering the predicament.

“How could we rule it?  We do not share control over one creature.  Would either one of us be able to control it by ourselves?  What if it can’t be controlled? Can you even fathom what it could be capable of?” Nyx wondered.

“I suppose we must work together to stop this abomination from happening then,” Apollo suggested.

“Then let us devise a curse that will keep this prophecy from ever coming true,” Nyx replied.

After much discussion the two goddesses decided on a punishment for the ones who were foolish enough to fall in love.  The punishment would serve as a reminder to the races of what would happen if any of them tried to join together what the gods had kept as separate.

To keep the perfect balance between the day and night

With love’s first kiss our curse will change the lovers’ lives

The day-walker must obey the sun on which form he shall take

The human form will walk at night

The wolf will roam at dawn’s first light

A reminder of the big mistake.

To live alone in daylight and turn to stone at each day’s end

The child of darkness will know that with the gods they can’t contend.

They will long for one another but for their love they’ll have to stay

Cursed for all eternity, until the gods fuse night and day.

This Time Around

 ~Summary~

Jasa Tucker doesn’t believe in the supernatural. She believes in people – more specifically, herself.  Having been burned a time or two in her life has caused her to build walls to keep her from getting attached to others. Unfortunately, by trying to keep out the pain and disappointment, she is missing out on love.

When a friend begs her to go into a fortune teller’s booth at the carnival she unhappily does so.  As a skeptic, Jasa doesn’t believe in these things. So when the fortune teller gives her a chilling warning she laughs it off, dismissing it as the ravings of a mindless old woman.

Soon afterwards, Jasa meets Micayle, a lawyer who is new to Clearlake. Could he be the one person who can tear down the walls around Jasa’s heart?  Just as she was beginning to let her guard down, tragedy strikes, leaving Jasa in a coma.

While in her coma, Jasa is confronted by her past lives who are trying to keep history from repeating itself.  They take her on the journey of a lifetime as she revisits each of her past lives in an effort to learn from her mistakes in order to save her future.

Will Jasa get things right – this time around?
